Why convert Gemini answers to Word?
Gemini often returns structured Markdown that is awkward to paste straight into Word. ChatGPT2Word maps that structure to real Word styles and tables so you can comment, edit, and share without rebuilding the document by hand — including when stakeholders live outside Google Docs.
Gemini-specific tips
- After Copy, glance at the preview: Gemini sometimes mixes bold lines with pseudo-headings; promote important lines to
#headings before export if you want Word’s Navigation pane. - For long code, keep fences intact — don’t paste as a screenshot.
- Use Copy formatted to drop rich text into an existing Docs file; use Download .docx for a standalone Word file with OMML math.
- Upload/drop a
.mdif you synced Gemini output into Obsidian or a notes app.
Deep Research is a report, not a chat turn
Gemini Deep Research (and similar long “research” runs in the Gemini app) produces a multi-section report with an appendix of sources. That is a different paste from a two-paragraph chat answer. Copy the report body after it finishes. In the preview, check three things before download: the top is the title and not Gemini’s progress narration; section labels you care about are real headings; the source appendix is present as links, not as a column of buttons you failed to select.
Deep Research citations have the same honesty problem as any model bibliography. A link in the
.docx is not a verified source. Open the ones you will stand behind and delete the
rest before the file looks official. The cleanup standard is written for ChatGPT but applies
here: citations to Word. If the text came from a
NotebookLM studio panel instead of Gemini, use
NotebookLM to Word — the copy target is a different panel.
Gemini in Docs is not this conversion
“Help me write” inside a Google Doc already lives in Docs. Leave it there. This page is for
Gemini on gemini.google.com, the Gemini app, or a Gem whose answer is still a chat you have to
extract. When the reader’s destination is Docs anyway, convert here and then follow
ChatGPT to Google Docs vs Word: Copy formatted for an open
Doc, or a .docx upload when tables matter. Equations that became OMML for Word may
flatten when Docs imports the file — check one formula after import.
Pseudo-headings and Gems
Gemini likes bold lead-ins that look like headings and are not. Word’s Navigation pane only lists real heading styles, so promote the lead-ins that structure the piece and leave the rest bold. Gems add a standing instruction; do not paste the Gem’s system prompt into the deliverable unless the appendix is about the prompt. Double-check tables: Gemini sometimes draws a grid with spaces or unicode rules that are not GFM pipes. If the preview does not show a table, the clipboard did not contain one — rebuild that grid or accept a list. Pipe repairs are covered on ChatGPT table to Word.
What is preserved
- H1–H6 → Word heading styles, once the line is actually a Markdown heading
- Nested ordered and bullet lists, task lists, and strikethrough
- GFM tables as Word tables with alignment from the separator row
- Fenced code blocks as monospace text plus a language label — not a colored IDE theme
- Common LaTeX as editable Word equations, with an explicit label when a fragment cannot convert
- Remote images when your browser can fetch them; otherwise the alt text and the URL
The same engine, different copy steps: ChatGPT to Word, Claude to Word, or Grok to Word.

How do I get Markdown out of Google Gemini?
Use Copy on the Gemini response (web). Gemini often emits Markdown with headings and lists. Paste here, preview, then download .docx or Copy formatted into Docs.
Gemini already integrates with Docs — why use this?
Gemini→Docs is handy inside Google’s stack. ChatGPT2Word is for a portable .docx with Word heading styles, OMML math, and a private browser path when you need Word/LibreOffice or offline files.
Do Gemini tables survive?
GFM pipe tables become real Word tables with header shading. Always skim the live preview — if Gemini used an odd ASCII layout, fix the Markdown once, then export.
What about Gemini code blocks?
Fenced code keeps monospace and indentation. Language tags (```python) show as a label in preview and in the .docx.
Is anything sent to Google or to us during conversion?
We do not upload your paste for conversion. Your browser builds the .docx locally. (Gemini itself is a separate product with its own policies when you chat there.)
