Studio output is the document; the notebook is not
A NotebookLM notebook holds PDFs, slides, Docs, and copied web pages. The thing classmates and managers ask for is usually one generated artifact: a study guide, a briefing doc, an FAQ, a timeline, or a table of contents. Those artifacts render in the studio panel. There is no reliable “Download Word” that preserves their structure, so people paste into Word and inherit a single column of bold fragments.
ChatGPT2Word never sees your Google login and cannot open the notebook. You copy the artifact you already generated. That boundary is the feature: source files stay in NotebookLM unless you deliberately paste them.

A practical pass before you download
- Generate or open the studio piece. Copy the text once the panel has finished.
- Paste here. If the preview is a stack of bold lines, add Markdown headings for the real sections only — topic names, not every bullet.
- NotebookLM cites sources with small markers. If those markers copied, leave them and add a Sources section naming the files in the notebook. If they did not copy, do not invent page numbers.
- Delete “suggested questions” and UI labels such as the name of the button you clicked.
- Download
.docxand read one section against the source before you trust it.
Grounded does not mean correct. The model can still merge two papers or drop a caveat. The Word file makes that easier to mark up; it does not audit the notebook. For citation hygiene that applies after any research model, see citations to Word.
FAQ artifacts and quizzes
An FAQ converts cleanly when each question is its own short heading or a bold lead-in followed by a paragraph. In the left pane, a pattern that works is a heading per question and a normal paragraph for the answer. Quiz items with “answer:” lines should stay as text you will hide or split later — do not assume Word will build an interactive form.
Tables of terms sometimes arrive as Markdown pipes and sometimes as aligned spaces. Pipes become Word tables. Aligned spaces stay as preformatted text if you fence them, or wrap badly if you do not. When a glossary matters, spend a minute making one pipe table; the table converter notes show the separator row.
Gemini is the neighboring job
If the text came from the Gemini app, a Gem, or Deep Research rather than a NotebookLM studio panel, use Gemini to Word. The engine is the same. The copy steps and the mistakes are not: Deep Research is one long report with a source appendix, while NotebookLM is a brief drawn from a private source set. Mixing those instructions is how people paste the wrong chrome.

How do I get a NotebookLM study guide into Word?
In NotebookLM, open the studio artifact (Study guide, Briefing doc, FAQ, or outline). Copy the text. Paste it here, fix heading levels if every line came out as a heading, then Download .docx.
Can you convert the Audio Overview?
No. Audio Overview is speech. This page converts written studio output you can copy. Transcribe only if you have a transcript, and treat that transcript as ordinary Markdown or plain text.
Do source citations from my notebook survive?
Inline markers and any links you copied become text and Word hyperlinks. We do not open your notebook or attach the original PDFs. Add a Sources heading and paste titles if the panel did not copy.
Is this the same as exporting Gemini?
No. Gemini chat and Gemini Deep Research are covered on the Gemini page. NotebookLM is grounded in the sources you uploaded to a notebook, and the thing you export is usually a studio brief rather than a chat turn.
Will my uploaded sources be sent to ChatGPT2Word?
Only if you paste them. The converter never connects to your Google account. Paste the generated guide, not the whole source PDF, unless you mean to put that PDF’s text into Word.
The guide is one long bold outline. Can I still get a Navigation pane?
Yes, if you promote the real sections to Markdown headings in the left pane before download. Bold labels stay bold; they do not become Word headings on their own.
